About Saskia

My background

Personal attention

I love what I do, and it shows. With more than 25 years of practical experience, I know the shortcomings in education. I approach it differently, with a personal approach. At Saskia you will not find groups, only personal guidance that works.

Everything you give attention grows

Every child is unique! That is why I tailor my approach to your child. With my approach and in a personal environment I ensure that every child feels at home quickly.
I work from my own home, which is over 110 years old, with my own practice space. This practice room is a quiet environment without stimuli.
I start with the basics and from there I will look for the gaps that prevent your child from growing, together with you and your child.
It is important that your child feels at home and that he or she is not alone. It is nice if parents come along with the guidance. Then your child can also fall back on you when making the practice material at home. An additional advantage is that you can help your other children yourself in the future. Together we ensure that your child grows.

Reward

Daring to ask for help is already worth a reward!

My greatest reward: a child that grows and gains more confidence.

A happy parent is satisfying, but a child who knows what it takes, makes me really happy.

Proven expert

Every child is different and requires a different approach. There is often insufficient space for this in the classical environment. That is why I always first investigate why a child lags behind in education.

Master Special Educational Needs

I graduated with a Master’s degree in Special Educational Needs (MSEN) to be able to guide children even better with their educational needs. As a behavior and learning specialist I look at the whole child and not just why a child cannot keep up in a certain area.

My story

I am Saskia Lich, married and mother of two fantastic teenagers.

It also applies to me that I could not go through primary school smoothly. In my case due to illness. Fortunately, I received support from one of the first Remedial Teachers in the Netherlands. In a way, this guidance laid the foundation for what I have become.

After my MAVO (VMBOTL) I moved on to HAVO. At the time I didn’t really know what I wanted to become and I decided to do the propaedeutic year at the PABO “De Eekhorst” in Assen. That’s where I found my base.

Even before graduating in 1996, I was asked to apply for a job at the Municipality of The Hague and I moved to this beautiful city in the same year.

In The Hague and the surrounding area I have worked at very different schools. From the Schilderswijk to Vinex locations, from primary education, special education to International education.

With a wealth of experiences as a teacher from groups 1 to 8, but also for special needs students in the position of care coordinator (Internal Counselor) and Remedial Teacher (RT-er), and as board member of a new school to be established in Leidschenveen.

I soon noticed that I had a special interest in students who could not “just” come along with the class. That is why I started to specialize in behavior and then in learning.

I then specialized, for example with the Master Special Educational Needs (SEN) training to be able to guide children with extra educational needs even better.

Due to the developments in education, I saw that more and more children who need extra care at school are not properly supported. Extra help is sometimes available, but the own teachers are unable to provide it, partly due to a lack of teachers or knowledge. This got me thinking then. How can I contribute to the increasing need for individual help and care within education?

After completing my Masters in Special Educational Needs (M SEN) in 2011, I started with RT Praktijk Nootdorp, from where I started providing Remedial Teaching.

Since my start I have continued to specialize. For this I have followed courses for:

  • dyslexia therapist
  • dyscalculia therapist
  • behavior specialties
  • working systemically

By working with parents and their children, I noticed that parents and teachers needed information about the way I supervise children. That is why I also started developing methods and worksheets.

In collaboration with Learning Brain I am involved in the start-up of MyCognition/Aqua Snap in the Netherlands. All this in collaboration with universities and university hospitals worldwide.

In 2019 I moved from Nootdorp to The Hague again and from there I started RT practice The Hague. Due to the very limited travel distance between Nootdorp and the center of The Hague, I only work from a homely environment in The Hague.

Because remedial teaching doesn’t really cover what I actually do, I decided to merge both practice names in BijSaskia.

BijSaskia stands for the personal guidance I give and in which I believe. I distinguish myself because I provide customization with a treatment plan that is tailored to the individual child, in which I like to closely involve parents and teachers in order to achieve the best result.

Permanent Education and Memberships

I keep learning too.

In addition to refresher courses and study meetings, I regularly have intervision and consultation with chain partners, such as: teachers, IB staff, school management, Remedial Teachers, remedial educationalists, (pediatric) doctors, physiotherapists, speech therapists, therapists, psychologists and psychiatrists.

By registering with the SKJ (Stichting Quality Register for Youth), it is possible to reimburse the help you have requested from a PGB.

Registered member of the LBBO (National Professional Association for Supervisors in Education).

Registered member of the LBRT (National Professional Association of Remedial Teachers).
